Choosing to use CGI photography can be a process that happens quite naturally. You need some 3d product imagery for the launch of your new product, but there’s been a delay in manufacture and the product will not be ready in time to prepare for a shoot. Ah, you’ve heard about digital imagery and you find yourself a digital image company and off you go.
Great!

Or it can happen because you are actively seeking something completely different. Something that makes you stand out from your competitors and gives you a creative scale you may not have had before. Again, you may approach a visual rendering company.
What if we said it’s possible to do way more than that?
Different from traditional photography, but without losing any of the realism (unless that’s what you want!) or any of the beauty that can be created with a camera. Digital images can that can be used in look-books, brochures, social media campaigns and websites.

Digital imagery – or 3D images, 3D product renders of CGI’s as they are sometimes known – is a way to create the marketing tools for a product in a completely unrestricted way. By using CGI’s, you can show your clients exactly how the product will look in as much reality as you want.
If you consider that the biggest factor for most consumers when they are buying a product is what it will look like in situ, this offers your client exactly that.
More than that, with CGI photography and digital imagery we are able to capture your product in a whole new light, and offer flexible, creative opportunities that wouldn’t be possible with traditional photography. We can use any size space, in any setting, with any accessories, props and add ons you can imagine.

CGI Photography – How does this really work?
So, let’s say you have a brand new wardrobe system you’d like to bring to market. You are mid production and want to produce some brochures and social media marketing before the stock is in your warehouse. With the time and money you have already spent on designing and building the new product, you clearly want it showcased in the very best way.
For the grain of the wood to show, the shine of the brass handles to be highlighted, for the quality of the build to be clear and for the practical elements of the internals to be shown off.

This is where the magic of what our team of experts can do comes in. With our experienced team of interior designers on hand, we will ‘build’ and create a set that represents your brand perfectly. Be that in a residential, commercial or even a more whimsical or fantastical setting. Whatever would suit your brand and your brief. Our design team understands the nuances of design and can recreate this within the imagery, they keep abreast of the latest trends and can reflect this in your design.
- We will design a set with the perfect colour palette in which to showcase the wardrobes.
- Choose the right flooring and wall surfaces, lighting and artwork.
- Our technical team then recreate the design.
- Producing visuals in natural light, at night time or with ambient light – or all three.
- We can take the client around the product at every angle and give an authentic representation of how your product will work for them.
3d digital images and CGI photography helps you express the designs functionality as well as it’s beauty.

Why it’s different to traditional photography
Imagine doing all this on a real life photography set? Consider the time and cost involved.
- Building and decorating sets, stripping them down and building another one
- Getting the lighting right
- Finding the right props and backgrounds
- Making the soft furnishings and other accessories that are needed to create the image and look you need.
After that comes editing, which can often cost more than the shoot. What if an image isn’t quite right, it all has to be re-shot. With digital imagery, there is none of that. All of the work is done whilst the images are being created. You have full control over the ‘time’ of day they are shot, the angle that is used, the colours that are included and how it will end up looking. You can ask for something to be tweaked, for a colour to be adjusted, for a prop to be removed or added.
3d product images can take your product marketing to a whole other level – as we have found with one of our regular clients Majestic showers. Offering the opportunity to show your creativity in a way that isn’t always possible with traditional photography. Having established a relationship of trust and understanding we have been working with this luxury shower company to produce aspirational imagery for a number of years.
They were not looking for photo realism, instead they wanted something that reflected the creativity of the brand. They appreciated our background in interior design meant we talked the same design language and could interpret a brief perfectly.

We have been able to create some amazing imagery for the company that has included luxury residential settings and fantastical settings. We have been able to use elements that maybe they couldn’t have with traditional photography – including antique furnishings in the room sets, for What we do always fits their brief perfectly and as its creative director explains “it is not only about time and cost and efficiency, it is also about being able to achieve a difference creative and aesthetic.”
